Physicist Persis S. Drell Visits JMSG

Persis S. Drell, who is best known for her expertise in the field of particle physics, spent the morning at JMSG. Dr. Drell tinkered with students at one of our tinkering stations before speaking to our students at the all-school meeting as our “Inspirational Woman.” Then, she headed off to participate in one of our STEAM classes.

Dr. Drell was the Director of the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center National Accelerator Laboratory from 2007 to 2012. In 2014 she was named the Frederick Emmons Terman (the first woman) Dean of the Stanford University School of Engineering, is the James and Anna Marie Spiker Professor in the School of Engineering, and a professor of Materials Science Engineering and Physics at Stanford University.
