The School is proud to continue the eighth year of operations of an after-school Girls’ Technology Center open to young women throughout the East Bay community.
Given school budget cuts, limited access to workshops and computers and pricey summer camps, girls in the East Bay lack opportunities to learn or strengthen technology skills. Julia Morgan School is conveniently located on Mills College campus to provide after-school programs focusing on computer technology.
The Center offers fun, creative and challenging activities involving computers and technology, video game programming, and digital moviemaking. The goals are to:
| - Empower girls to tackle and solve technical problems from troubleshooting a software application to repairing a hard drive
- Serve as a local and national model for teaching girls about technology
- Foster interest, confidence and skills in science and computer courses
- Provide girls with greater access to computers at home or at school
- Encourage young women to assume leadership roles in technology
