JMSG believes girls should graduate with a deep sense of social responsibility. Teachers infuse Service Learning into every subject area. All teachers create a project that extends learning beyond the walls of the classroom and into the community.

In the 8th grade year, students participate in GoGirl (Girls Out Getting Involved in Real Life). They research a topic such as homelessness, immigration, homophobia or domestic violence and then become activists out in the community. They have examined homeless shelters and interviewed street people, they have labored in the fields as migrant workers, they have designed and promoted plans for saving energy. Through this program, girls learn that with their education comes the responsiblity to make the world a better place.
