The Parent/Guardian Questionnaire and Candidate Questionnaire should be completed and returned to the Admission Office as soon as possible. We ask parents/guardians, as a clerical courtesy to the Admission Office, to submit applications and fee by December 5, 2008. The courtesy deadline has no bearing on the application decision. The absolute deadline is 3 P.M., Friday, January 9, 2009. (JMSG sibling famiies please call the Admission Office (x125) for additional information.)

ADMISSION DECISIONS

Decisions regarding acceptance will be mailed Thursday, March 12, 2009. Your response to reserve a space for your accepted daughter is expected no later than Friday, March 20, 2009 by 11:00 A.M.

APPLICATION FEE

A fee of $85.00 (check payable to Julia Morgan School for Girls) is due when the application is submitted. This fee covers administrative costs. It is non-refundable and does not, in the case of acceptance, apply toward tuition.

TEACHER RECOMMENDATIONS

JMSG uses the standard recommendation form used by all East Bay Independent Schools. Two academic teacher recommendations are required. Teachers completing forms must have taught the student within the last two years. The teacher recommendations are due on Friday, January 30, 2009.

SCHOOL REPORT FORM

Please sign the School Report Form and deliver to the school your child currently attends. A school administrator must complete the recommendaiton checklist on the reverse side of the form. Please have your child’s school return this form to JMSG. The transcript is due on Friday, January 30, 2009.

PARENT TOURS

Parents are welcome to participate in scheduled tours of the School. Please call 510.632.6000 x125 for the dates and times. We strongly recommend that you attend an Information Night first.

PARENT INTERVIEW

A School administrator will meet with each applicant’s parents in a half-hour meeting to answer parents’ questions and to assess whether our school would be a good “fit” for the family, child, and school.

STUDENT VISIT/INTERVIEW

As part of the admission process, girls should plan to visit classes for a few hours in the morning or afternoon. The parent and student questionnaires must be submitted to schedule a classroom visit and interview.

ASSESSMENT

All applicants are required to participate in a JMSG assessment that includes a writing sample, group work, and mathematics. Please call to schedule your daughter for one of the two assessment sessions, after your application has been submitted. The Admission Office will send a card confirming the date and time of the assessment.
