In February 2006, an accreditation team from the California Association of Independent Schools visited JMSG and looked at all aspects of the School. The accreditation process included months of self-study and evaluation. It provided an opportunity for JMSG to engage members of our community in reviewing our mission and goals and to develop and refine plans for our future.
At the end of their visit, the committee presented their report to the board of trustees, faculty and staff, which included a strong affirmation of our work. In April the Board of Standards and the Board of Directors of the California Association of Independent Schools reviewed the report and granted JMSG the highest rating and a full term of six years accreditation.
One of the committee’s seven major commendations was about the quality of our students. At JMSG we are fortunate to work with girls from many different cultures and family compositions. We also have the delight of working with students who fully engage the learning process. As one member of the evaluating team said, “You can prepare the feast, but if the students don’t partake of what is offered, it will all be for naught.” We love this image because it reminds us of the words of one of our students who, two weeks into her JMSG experience, told us, “My brain has always been hungry for this school!”
